Two Perspectives, One Diagnosis: Facing Lewy Body Dementia Together

Calendar

April 2, 2027 @ 2:00 PM EDT

Lewy body dementia (LBD) is often misunderstood and misdiagnosed, creating unique challenges for both those living with the condition and the care partners who support them. While they share the same diagnosis, their experiences, concerns, and needs can differ significantly. Join us on October 22 at 11:00am CT for “Two Perspectives, One Diagnosis: Facing Lewy Body Dementia Together” featuring Brandi Hackett, LCSW, C-ASWCM, Director of Support Services with the Lewy Body Dementia Association.

As part of WellMed’s Caregiver Teleconnection Series, this session explores how dementia-sensitive practices, empathy, and self-compassion can help both perspectives navigate the journey together. You will discover strategies to:

  • Identify and respond to LBD-specific symptoms with greater awareness.
  • Recognize the unique and shared experiences of individuals living with Lewy body dementia (LBD) and their care partners, including how their challenges, concerns, and support needs may differ.
  • Identify strategies and available supports that promote empathy, self-compassion, and meaningful support for both individuals living with LBD and their care partners.
