About Heather Cianci, PT, MS, GCS
Heather is the founding therapist of the Dan Aaron Parkinson’s Rehabilitation Center at Pennsylvania Hospital in Philadelphia, PA – a partner with the University of Pennsylvania’s Parkinson’s Disease and Movement Disorders Center (PDMDC). She received her bachelor’s in physical therapy from the University of Scranton and her master’s in gerontology from Saint Joseph’s University.
Heather has been a physical therapist since 1994 and received her board certification in geriatrics in 1999 from the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties. She holds many exercise-specific certifications for Parkinson's and serves as an LSVT® BIG Faculty Instructor for LSVT Global, Inc., and Co-coordinator and PT Faculty for the Parkinson’s Foundation’s Team Training Program.
Heather has authored book chapters on rehabilitative strategies for PD and dementia and is also the author of the Parkinson’s Foundation’s educational manual “Fitness Counts.” She teaches about rehabilitation and PD at Thomas Jefferson University (Philadelphia, PA) and Neumann University (Aston, PA) and is active in research on exercise and PD. Heather is former board member for CurePSP and the lead physical therapist of the Comprehensive Outpatient Atypical Parkinsonism Clinic at the PDMDC.
