Hosted by the LBDA Support Group M’Aiken A Difference, DayBreak Adult Care Services, Trinity Hospice of Aiken, and Trinity on Laurens, “Dementia 101: What Every Caregiver Should Know” is a one day educational event for caregivers of individuals with dementia.

Topics include:

  • Policing Driving: Learn how to navigate the difficult conversation about when it is time to hand up the keys – balancing safety with dignity.
  • Making Your Home a Safe Space: Simple home modifications and routines that promote independence while preventing accidents and confusion.
  • Picking Your Battles: Strategies for deciding when to push and when to let go, especially around issues such as showering, food choices and medical visits.
  • Becoming a Detective: Decode your loved one’s behavior and language to uncover what they are really trying to express.
  • Keep Questioning: Stay curious because asking the right questions can open doors to better understanding and more compassionate care.
  • Sexuality and Dementia: A candid conversation with Terry Lee on navigating intimacy, boundaries and dignity in the dementia journey.
  • Insight from Family Caregivers: Learn from those who have walked in your shoes.
