ALTER Dementia Summit: Live. Love. Learn.

Calendar

April 23 - April 25, 2026

The ALTER Dementia Summit offers a unique and timely opportunity to accelerate the transition of evidence into real-world impact.  By bringing together researchers, health professionals, and the African American community, this conference will address dementia-related concerns, strengthen support for families, and advance meaningful, sustainable change in brain health and caregiving.

Attending the conference? Be sure to add to your schedule, “Seeing the Unseen: Supporting Families within the Black Church Facing Non-Alzheimer's Dementia” presented by Brandi Hackett, LCSW, C-ASWCM, Director of Support Services with the Lewy Body Dementia Association and Esther Kane, MSN, RN-CDP, Director of Support and Education with The Association of Frontotemporal Degeneration.  This session will focus on understanding and recognizing different types of dementia, explore how empathy and emotional awareness can improve caregiving and communication, and share real-world strategies to promote inclusivity, challenge misconceptions and amplify the voices of individuals living with “other” dementias in social and church settings.
