This study aims to understand the caregiving experiences of adult children caring for a parent living with Lewy body dementia (LBD).
What is this study about?
Understanding the experiences of those caring for a parent with LBD can further caregiver research and increase awareness of these caregivers and their needs at both the professional and community levels.
The study will examine how caregivers experience and mitigate caregiver stress and burden and how the relationship between the caregiver and care receiver affects the caregiving and caregiver motivation.
What is involved?
Participants will be asked to do the following:
- Take part in a one-on-one, audio and video recorded interview, either virtually or in person (60 to 70 minutes)
- Create a collage or cognitive representation such as a drawing (15 to 30 minutes)
- Complete two weekly journal prompts for a total of two weeks (15 to 30 minutes each week)
- Review researcher themes to confirm agreement
Who can participate?
All the criteria below are required to be eligible for this study:
- 25 years of age or older
- A primary caregiver of a parent with Lewy body dementia
- Caregiver for a minimum of six months providing in-home care
- Assisting with both activities of daily living (ADLs) and instrumental activities of daily life (IADLs)
