Dysautonomia is a nervous system disorder that disrupts autonomic body processes. Symptoms involving heart rate, blood pressure, digestion, and body temperature are considered autonomic symptoms of Lewy body dementia (LBD). This can include sudden drops in blood pressure upon standing, dizziness, falls, urinary incontinence, and constipation, all of which can be challenging to manage with daily living.
Dr. Shannon Chiu, M.D., is a neurologist who specializes in movement disorders at the Mayo Clinic in Phoenix, Arizona. Dr. Chiu will discuss and review the various autonomic symptoms as they relate to LBD and offer advice on how to cope with these symptoms.

About Dr. Shannon Chiu, M.D.
Dr. Chiu is a Senior Associate Consultant and Assistant Professor of Neurology at Mayo Clinic Arizona. She is a movement disorders specialist and completed her fellowship at the University of Florida. Her current research is in the application of diffusion-weighted MRI and electroencephalography in dementia with Lewy bodies (DLB), and development of these techniques as potential biomarkers.
