At the Lewy Body Dementia Association, we understand that many families are touched by Lewy body dementia. Whether you’ve been recently diagnosed, you’re a caregiver, a healthcare professional, or you’re looking for more information – we’re here for you. We’ve created our homepage to help LBD families quickly access up-to-date information about LBD to help prepare for some of the changes ahead. 

Volunteer Spotlight:  Ronnie Genser, 2009 LBDA Volunteer of the Year
 

Please join LBDA in thanking Ms. Ronnie Genser for her tireless efforts to help families affected by Lewy body dementia. Ms. Genser volunteers as the LBDA's Support Group Coordinator for their national support group network. Through her leadership and expertise, the network has grown to include 68 support groups in 26 states as well as the province of Ontario, Canada.

Ms. Genser will be presented with the Volunteer of the Year award by Vice-President of the Board of Directors, Debbie McCoy-Massey on February 5, 2010, during a private luncheon.

Thank you, Ms. Genser, for your dedication and passion which has helped so many families find support through the LBDA's local support group network.

Meet the 2009-2010 Board of Directors

 We would like to express our grateful appreciation to John Young and Jim Whitworth for their dedication and service on the Board of Directors since LBDA was founded in 2003. John Young was the first elected director and served as Board President in 2008-2009. Jim Whitworth, also a founding director, served as Board President from 2003-2005.

Both were instrumental in helping to establish LBDA and were recognized for their guidance and leadership at the September 2009 Board meeting. Although John and Jim have reach the end of their term limits and are rotating off the Board, they remain committed to raising awareness about Lewy body dementia and supporting those affected by the disease.

Joining the Board of Directors in 2010 are Barbara Bush and Miles Hurley. Barbara resides in Dunwoody, GA, and has extensive experience working with both public and nonprofit organizations. Miles lives and works in Atlanta as an elder care attorney and brings to us a wealth of knowledge about issues facing families and caregivers. We hope you will join us in welcoming Barbara and Miles to the LBDA family.

New and Notable at LBDA

  • Plan an event. LBDA volunteers near Boston recently ran, walked and skipped on their way to raising several thousand dollars for LBD education and awareness. You can recreate their experience in your own community. Click here to find out how.
  • Learn about LBD research.  LBDA is partnering with other nonprofit organizations to advance research into dementia biomarkers. Learn more about this important intitiative here.
